The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) in the UK has officially approved Eli Lilly’s innovative drug, donanemab, for the treatment of early Alzheimer’s disease. With this approval, the UK becomes the third major market to endorse donanemab, which is branded as Kisunla. The drug previously received authorization from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration in July and gained approval in Japan just last month.

Currently, approximately 982,000 individuals in the UK are living with dementia, with Alzheimer’s disease accounting for 50% to 75% of these cases, according to NICE data. The approval of Kisunla offers a glimmer of hope in addressing this growing health crisis.
