In a study published in the journal Antioxidants, mice treated with luteolin maintained their natural hair color longer compared to those receiving other antioxidants, possibly due to its effect on melanocytes, the cells responsible for hair pigmentation.

Although the findings are intriguing, experts emphasize that human hair follicles function differently, and genetics and environmental factors play a significant role in when hair turns gray. Nonetheless, the study offers a glimpse into how antioxidants may help promote overall hair health, alongside other lifestyle factors such as stress management and avoiding smoking.

While luteolin supplements are not yet recommended, increasing your intake of antioxidant-rich vegetables like broccoli, carrots, and green peppers is a healthy choice that can benefit your overall well-being and may help slow the aging process, including the graying of hair.
