Frito-Lay Pulls Tostitos Chips Over Hidden Milk Allergen Risk

by gongshang13

Frito-Lay has issued a voluntary recall for select batches of Tostitos Cantina Traditional Yellow Corn Tortilla Chips after discovering they may contain an undeclared milk allergen. The company warned that consumers with milk allergies or severe sensitivities should avoid the affected products immediately, as they could pose a risk of serious allergic reactions.

Affected Products and Distribution

The recall involves approximately 1,300 bags of 13-ounce Tostitos Cantina chips, marked with the UPC code 28400 52848 and a “Guaranteed Fresh” date of May 20, 2025. The chips were distributed to grocery stores, convenience stores, and online retailers across 13 states, including Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, Ohio, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia.

Reason for the Recall

Frito-Lay stated that some bags may have been accidentally filled with nacho cheese-flavored chips, which contain milk—an ingredient not listed on the label of the original product. While no allergic reactions have been reported so far, the company urges caution for those with milk allergies.

What Consumers Should Do

Customers who have purchased the recalled chips and have a milk allergy should discard the product immediately. Those without allergies can safely consume the chips. For further questions or refunds, consumers can contact Frito-Lay’s customer service at 1-800-352-4477 or visit the company’s website. The recall has been reported to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
