Fujifilm, Egypt’s UPA Sign MoU to Advance Healthcare Training and Technology at Africa Health ExCon

Fujifilm Middle East and Africa has announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with The Egyptian Authority for Unified Procurement, Medical Supply, and the Management of Medical Technology (UPA) during the Africa Health ExCon 2024. This MoU underscores Fujifilm’s commitment to enhancing the healthcare sector in Egypt.

Under this agreement, Fujifilm will expand its support to the Egyptian government by providing high-quality educational programs aimed at enhancing the skills of local healthcare professionals in the public sector. This initiative builds upon Fujifilm’s Fujifilm Academy, which successfully trained 500 radiographers and university students across Egypt in 2023. The company plans to further increase the number of trained healthcare professionals with the upcoming inauguration of the Fujifilm Technology Centre.

Bahaa El-Din Zidan, Chairman of UPA, welcomed the partnership and emphasized the long-standing bilateral relations between Egypt and Japan. He highlighted the contributions made by Japanese institutions, such as Abul Reesh Children’s Hospital, and expressed the desire to integrate Japanese culture and innovation into future healthcare projects.

Hiroshi Oka, the ambassador of Japan to Egypt, echoed these sentiments, emphasizing the deep history of cooperation in healthcare between the two nations. He commended Fujifilm’s commitment to advancing the local healthcare sector through cutting-edge technologies and training programs.

Michio Kondo, Managing Director of Fujifilm Middle East and Africa, emphasized Egypt’s significance as a key market for Fujifilm in the region. He reaffirmed the company’s dedication to supporting the Egyptian healthcare sector, stating that the MoU reflects Fujifilm’s mission to contribute to the enhancement of Egypt’s healthcare sector through technology and investment in medical talent, ultimately improving the patient experience.
