Abbott has officially launched its Lingo Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) system in the U.S., making it available without a prescription. Built on the technology of Abbott’s FreeStyle Libre system, which supports over six million diabetes patients globally, Lingo is designed to help health-conscious consumers monitor their glucose levels to optimize overall wellness.
The Lingo system includes a mobile app providing real-time glucose data, along with a wearable biosensor attached to the back of the arm for up to 14 days. This allows users to monitor how their body responds to stress, exercise, and food, offering valuable insights for improving health areas such as mood, sleep, and weight management.
Olivier Ropars, divisional vice president for Lingo, emphasized the growing interest in tracking biomarkers that were previously undetectable with traditional health trackers. “Lingo Challenges,” personalized insights, food and activity logging, and glucose trend graphs are some of the app’s features aimed at helping users meet their health goals. Lingo is designed for adults aged 18 and older and is not intended for diagnosing medical conditions. The Lingo app is available for download on the App Store.
