World Hormone Day 2025: A Global Campaign To Prioritize Hormone Health

by Shreeya

In an exciting new initiative, the European Society of Endocrinology (ESE) and the European Hormone and Metabolism Foundation (ESE Foundation) have announced the launch of the first-ever World Hormone Day to be held on April 24, 2025. This significant global event will be an annual observance, aimed at raising awareness of the crucial role hormones play in overall health and well-being.

Hormones are essential for the proper functioning of the human body. They regulate key processes such as metabolism, growth, fertility, cognitive function, and even the body’s response to stress. But their importance extends far beyond these fundamental functions. Hormones are also integral in the development and management of numerous chronic diseases, including diabetes, thyroid disorders, and even cancer.

However, many people remain unaware of how deeply hormones affect their daily lives and long-term health outcomes. World Hormone Day aims to spotlight this often-overlooked topic and encourage better understanding and proactive management of hormone health.

“Hormones are vital to our health in ways many don’t fully realize,” says Helen Gregson, CEO of the ESE. “World Hormone Day gives us the opportunity to highlight the significant role hormones play in maintaining both physical and mental well-being. It’s time to bring hormones into the spotlight.”

In order to support participation across borders, the ESE is developing comprehensive toolkits that include materials in 19 languages, designed to empower communities worldwide. These toolkits will include infographics, posters, videos, and social media graphics under the themes “Why Hormones Matter” and “10 Recommendations for Good Hormone Health”.

These resources will help people and organizations across the globe get involved by hosting events, creating awareness in their communities, and sharing information online. Participants are encouraged to customize their activities and themes to resonate with local needs, while uniting under the common message of #BecauseHormonesMatter.

The first World Hormone Day marks the beginning of an exciting global movement for hormone health. By participating in activities and spreading the word, individuals, healthcare professionals, and policymakers alike can help create a healthier, more informed world where hormone health is at the forefront of global health priorities.
