The Batemans Bay community is getting a first glimpse of the ambitious $20 million Batemans Bay Community Health Service, as the master plan for the enhanced health facility was unveiled today. Minister for Regional Health Ryan Park announced that the redevelopment of existing land on Pacific Street, Batemans Bay Hospital, will house the state-of-the-art facility. The goal is to provide a modern, integrated, and convenient healthcare service that caters to the unique needs of the local community.
Minister Park emphasized the government’s commitment to making quality healthcare accessible to everyone, regardless of their location. “Enhancing the accessibility and delivery of healthcare across regional NSW is a core ministerial priority,” he stated. The Batemans Bay Community Health master plan represents a significant step forward in this commitment, aiming to strengthen health services across the NSW south coast.
The new facility, strategically located near the recently opened Medicare Urgent Care Clinic, promises improved local access to a comprehensive range of services, including allied health, child, youth, and family services, women’s health, sexual health services, primary health care, Aboriginal health, and community mental health and drug and alcohol services.
Parliamentary Secretary for Regional Health Dr Michael Holland highlighted the collaborative effort involved in planning the new service. “Batemans Bay Health Service staff, clinicians, and the Southern NSW Local Health District have provided valuable input to help inform the planning of the new service,” he said.
Community engagement is a crucial aspect of the project, with the Batemans Bay community invited to view the latest plans and provide feedback through an online survey or attend drop-in sessions. Information sessions are scheduled at various locations from January 30 to February 2, providing residents with an opportunity to shape the new facility.
Minister Park reassured the community that Batemans Bay Hospital would continue its operations during the construction of Batemans Bay Community Health and the new $260 million Eurobodalla Regional Hospital. The integration and support between Batemans Bay Community Health and the upcoming regional hospital aim to provide greater access to care closer to home.
