A new study reveals that omega-3 fatty acids, vitamin D supplements, and regular exercise may help slow biological aging in older adults.
Published in Nature Aging on February 3, the research showed that participants who combined these interventions experienced a reduction in their biological age by nearly four months.
The study, part of the DO-HEALTH trial at the University of Zurich, involved 777 adults aged 70 and older.
Researchers measured biological aging using advanced epigenetic clocks, which track DNA changes.
Omega-3s alone slowed aging, and combining them with vitamin D and exercise produced even greater benefits.
Experts highlight the importance of these affordable and safe strategies for promoting healthy aging.
While more research is needed, this study offers a promising approach to extending healthspan in older adults.
