A recall has been issued for a batch of men’s multivitamins after the discovery of an undeclared allergen that could pose serious health risks, including life-threatening reactions, to certain consumers.
The recall affects the Multi-V Men multivitamins, manufactured by Utah-based MTN OPS LLC. The affected product is packaged in 60-capsule bottles, with a total of 7,546 bottles being recalled. The issue was identified after soy flour, an ingredient not listed on the label, was found in the pills.
According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the recall was categorized as Class II, which applies to products that “may cause temporary or medically reversible health consequences, or where the risk of serious health issues is low.” The recall was officially announced on April 9.
The vitamins, which carry an expiration date of March 2026 and a lot number #012324177, were specifically recalled due to the presence of soy flour, a known allergen. The FDA has stated that no other batches of the multivitamins are included in the recall.
MTN OPS’ Multi-V Men pills are designed to support men’s daily health, offering essential nutrients such as calcium, zinc, vitamin C, vitamin B12, vitamin D, and thiamine. The company markets the product as a supplement for “optimal health,” aiming to help users maintain a “strong, healthy, and energetic lifestyle.”
Soy flour poses a significant risk to individuals with soy allergies, as even trace amounts can trigger severe allergic reactions. The FDA and MTN OPS have advised consumers who have purchased the affected bottles to dispose of them immediately or contact the company for instructions on returning the product.
While recalls of vitamins and over-the-counter medications are not common, they do occur. In 2016, Nature Made recalled certain vitamins due to concerns about potential contamination with salmonella or staphylococcus. More recently, in November 2024, certain lots of the anti-anxiety medication clonazepam were recalled due to incorrect labeling.
As of now, MTN OPS has not provided a statement in response to the recall. For more information, consumers are encouraged to visit the company’s website or reach out to the FDA.
