Johns Hopkins Health Plans has introduced a new multi-payer portal, powered by Availity Essentials, to enhance the provider experience. This secure platform facilitates real-time communication between providers and payers, offering a range of features to streamline administrative tasks.
Ryan O’Donnell, Chief Operating Officer for Johns Hopkins Health Plans, emphasized the portal’s role in boosting efficiency and simplifying processes for providers within the network. Provider offices can now manage medical benefits, submit and track electronic claims, access claims status and payment information, and handle authorization requests all in one place.
The new portal leverages Artificial Intelligence to provide insights into financial and administrative transactions, enabling provider staff to access accurate data more quickly. Additionally, future improvements will enhance provider reports, offering more timely access to member information.
Initially, the health plans of Priority Partners, Advantage MD, and Employer Health Programs (EHP) will be integrated into the portal, with US Family Health Plan to follow later.
As a provider-sponsored health plan, Johns Hopkins Health Plans recognizes the importance of reducing the administrative burden on providers and facilitating seamless care delivery. Dr. Marina Zeltser, Associate Chief Medical Officer, emphasized that improved technology and processes will lead to a smoother experience for both providers and members, ultimately enhancing the overall quality of care.
