NYC Health + Hospitals proudly announced that CEO Helen Arteaga-Landaverde, MPH, PhD, and Senior Vice President Dr. Ted Long have been recognized as recipients of the prestigious 11th Annual Joan H. Tisch Community Health Prize. This esteemed award acknowledges their exceptional contributions to urban public health, particularly their pivotal roles in leading New York City’s response to and recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Joan H. Tisch Community Health Prize, facilitated by the Laurie M. Tisch Illumination Fund, honors individuals and organizations for their distinguished achievements in advancing public health in urban settings. This year’s honorees were celebrated for their innovative leadership during challenging times, including Dr. Long’s initiatives addressing the city’s asylum seeker crisis.
Mitchell Katz, MD, President and CEO of NYC Health + Hospitals, commended Arteaga-Landaverde and Dr. Long, stating, “Helen and Ted embody our mission to deliver equitable health care to all New Yorkers with compassion and integrity. Their steadfast leadership throughout the COVID-19 pandemic undoubtedly saved lives and strengthened our public health system’s resilience and responsiveness.”
Laurie M. Tisch, President of the Laurie M.
